Default Sea Swan has the cancer

Looks like bad times have hit the old Sea Swan. She has the cancer deep down in her bowels. I was going to remove the carpet and put down a new floor that I could wash down and found out just how bad she was. The local DOC (Marine Mechanic) is guessing somewhere between 5 to 7 thousand dollars to restore her. I can’t really afford the divorce it would cause to have her rebuilt by a pro.
There are just too many good times to let her die though. Team Bad Halibut, Springer troop, Silver slayers, Gator barge all these good times in the last few years. Not to mention the $10,000 already spent on her in the last three years for new engine out drive and other things. I was just getting things going good and then this. What is a fisherman to do? Where is the best place a person can go to find out how to restore one from the ground up and is it worth it?

The hull is a 1979 22” Sea-Ray stout and strong. They say while I’m doing it to just do the whole thing and not have to worry about it again in a few years. Well looks like a year of charters and shore fishing for me. I will start on the rebuilding and see how much I can get done and maybe hire the pro’s to do the rebuild portion.

Damn the luck!

Danny, we need to talk. E-mail me. So sorry about your boat.

You should have seen 'Pilar' when I brought it home. How much you spend is directly related to how much hard dirty work you are willing to do.

It may not be as bad as you think.

Hey Dan,
Not sure here but somebody might be willing to trade/barter work for something you have or do?? I do this often. Also I know a guy near my home here in Chehalis that would do it and for less money than anyone else...he does very good work but tends to take his time.

If either of these sound possible...give me a holler. In the mean time...we could go hunt imaginary ducks together...do you guys have any ducks?? Man...ours are all gone up here :depressed:

Jim, If you want to get together and hunt Astoria we can put something together. I have been doing better there than here at SI. I only have my small boat so we would have to find a larger one somewhere. I should just go ahead and get started on this. I am curious as to how much your buddy would charge for this though and if he has any referance's or has done this before. If I spend the time and money I want to do it right.

Dan!

If that is the Overnighter model, spare no expense to fix her up. Best boat that Sea Ray ever built!

Too sad Danny. At least you found the damage on terra firma. If you decide to do some yourself and need some grunt work I'll spend a Saturday to help you out. Would need some notice though. Good luck.

Sorry to hear about the "Swan". I think I could help you with some of the wood working. You would have to bring her down here to my shop.
