Finally I'm feeling good about my steelheading...
though I have been out there doing the right stuff-the fish weren't happening.Then this week happened and my confidence is back three short trips(ie before work,or late afternoon)and three fish.This is going to be a great winter!!
Where on Eagle Creek were you fishing, and what was your terminal tackle? I'm going to take my wife up there this afternoon and see if I can get her into her first Winter Steelhead. I'm going to set her up with a bobber & jig, she hasn't begun to master drift fishing yet!!
Was fishing below Eagle fern on some private land I have access to. Terminal tackle- corkie&yarn with a dab of eggs.
Fish appear to be holding tight to riffles and more receptive to striking iin the deeper holding water. The clear water has them on the spook.
Approach each hole with care and stealth.
