Beautiful day on the water, SLOW day catching sturgies. We fished from T-6 down to Frenchman's bar with little to no action. We saw a couple boats hooking up at Kelly but nothing spectacular. We ended up anchoring in 58 feet of water around Frenchman's and finally found some biters. We fished well into the slack with 5 shakers to the boat for 3 rods
I did see a few boats with keepers but it was a very slow day in comparison with the others I have had in the area recently. The bottom was full of salad and it was constantly getting wrapped up in your bait or slider. Oh well, not everytime is a slammer for the Tacklebuster.
How did everyone else fair? I saw quite a few boats out today so I know there were some Ifish anglers in the area. I will hit her again on Monday for one last trip of the year
Hi Tacklebuster! One of those boats with Ifishers would be me. Puffin, Mr. Fisherman and Pilar got into Kelly point this morning and went home with a limit in the boat by 11. The traffic was heavy but we managed to bag 3 nice fish and several boats and a snag or two.
****** stopped by and asked if he could jam his boat in between. He then went down a ways and fished in a less popular spot.
The fish are all between 42 and 48 with no real big ones yet. Smelt was the bait of choice.

I have to agree on the slow bite. Fished Friday afternoon for only 2 shakers, went again this morning till noon with RainRshine at KP and the lower Willamette for 2 more shakers and a bunch of really light bites. I don't know what happened between last week and this week, but the bite has dropped off a bunch.
(edit) unless your fishing with Pilar.... Nice work John.
Pilar,
Nice work on the sturgies. I didn't anchor up with the boats at Kelly Point this morning due to the traffic. I guess maybe I should have. Did you guys get quite a few shakers or did it seem pretty slow as far as action goes? I will look for the Ifish stickers on Monday so maybe I can meet some of my fellow sturgeon slayers. I don't have a sticker (need to get off my lazy butt and get one) but I'm in the bluish/green Weldcraft Renegade for anyone that wants to anchor up and say "hi."
Obviously Pilar STILL does not know we were messin' with him. I wonder if he STILL has that "just try it scurvy dog" look on his face, even now. LOL.
What a mis-leading thing to say though about barging in. Did not see a  behind your "****** came by to try and barge in." We just stopped by on our way to say hello and "ruffle your feathers." Guess we did. Tuff S. 30 miles out? Nah. Hassle for a Sturgeon spot? Nah.
Pilar I saw you today, I was in the camo flatbottom sled below the mouth. You were on your way out I guess. I tried to flag you down to introduce myself but you must not have seen me. I will be down tomorrow so if you see me come say hello. I also was lucky enough to find a keeper!!!! John
Hey Pilar, Looks like you catch a guy down on his luck and take his Lucky Charm. Looks like you guys had a great day on the church. Good luck and keep on catching them diamond sides.
