I'm not sure, but the first question is what kind of shrimp? bait or tablefare?

closely guarded by those that know and the likely hood of prying their secrets from their cold dead hands is................unlikely. I personally have no clue nor have I heard of anyone trying this or developing a shrimp fishery out there. I've tried getting info on this from insiders and all I got was a big LOL and then they continue to puff on the nicotine stick.

Hopefully you are more persuasive.

I got a Spotted Prawn expairmental permit for the state of Oregon. We havent dropped traps yet but for talking to the old pros there here just have to find them. Deep water reefs. 100 to 600'. If we hit we post it.

I've wondered about this the last few years. Co-workers are shrimping less than 100 crow-flies miles up in WA....is Oregon's offshore structure that shrimp un-friendly?

These same folks today were describing how they looked for reefs (sea mounts) that had a tabletop of 50' to 100' in depth and then dropped off to ~400'. They'd set their traps at that deep perimeter around the sea mount.

Maybe it's easier shrimping in the lee of islands up in WA?

Down here, in anything less than a flat ocean you'd need a lot of scope in the line or your trap would get walked all over by the swells?

When we were bottom fishing a couple weeks ago the fish were packed with shrimp... this spot was in 200' of water with a big rock that comes up to 60'.... kind of shaped like Haystack Rock... things that make you go hummmmmm.
