Default Replacement trailer brakes...

Knowing that all four brakes on my trailer were hashed, I ordered two sets of disc replacements from cabelas. The hardest part of installation was getting the corroded brake lines loose from the old brakes. Everything else was easier than I expected. Galvanized hubs, stainless rotors, aluminum calipers, brass bushings and pistons so no more rust. $109 per set and that includes new bearings. I only replaced two wheels and the stopping is much better. I'll replace the other two when the wallet allows. I'll update as I get more miles on them... Joe

I don't know about disc brakes on boat trailers almost every one I know has had their disc caliper lock up and burn up the hub.Alumaweld stopped using disc on their Rouge trailers in '96.

Well that's great, just as soon as I thought I found the cure-all. Thanks for the heads up, I'll keep an eye on them...

Joe, I thought you were the guy with the TJ in Albany, and you sold it? Did you get a new ride?

Yes, I was that guy. I found myself spending too much time away from the family guiding out of it and I couldn't afford to have it around just for fun. The new family cruiser is a 20' walkaround trophy. We spend alot of time out in the ocean anyways, and although I REALLY miss the T-jet, the trophy fits our plans right now. Dangit, just when I thought I was over it... :depressed:
