Re: OHA fee increase Poll
Just for clarification. It's an OHA-conducted poll about the ODFW fee increase. Don

Re: OHA fee increase Poll
lots of no, responses. i think it is because of the wording of the question. it is too complicated an issue, to have a yes or no answer. ask me the question and think no BECAUSE it won't improve my hunting experience, BUT i answered yes BECAUSE it will not make my hunting experience worse. where a reduction of service caused by more underfunding will cause my hunting experience to worsen

Re: OHA fee increase Poll
I think the average person that deer hunts 3.5 days per year and isnt in involved in the conservation process in any other way will not support it. Most "consumer" minded hunters that buy a license and deer tag expect something of equal value in return.
It is basic consumer expectation.....if you are going to ask for money there needs to be something to buy.
This group will not think twice about spending their hard earned vacations riding quads, golfing, or choosing some other recreational actvitiy that seems like a better return on their dollar. It is sad, but a lot of people feel like they wasted their time when they come home with an unused tag.

Re: OHA fee increase Poll
Baltz it might not make yours worse but those of us on a tight budget it might just determine if we go or not. I know this year I have been fishing once usually I would have ten to twelve trips under my belt. Worst yet I'm only planning one outting all year in mid July weather permitting. Hunting this year will be a point saver for me due to the cost of everything involved. I'll still duck hunt close to home but not much more. It doesn't meana huge loss for ODFW but it does make a difference to those counting on my toruism dollars. I wish those of you willing and wanting to pay more would just go ahead and do it and leave to other 40% of us alone and enjoy what we can with what we have. 20% is an insane increase. When my salery increases 20% then let them request it.

76 votes total at this point...
It's gonna be hard to consider any results with such a small sampling as accurate. The online poll is a relatively new feature on the OHA web site and it would be nice to see more than a few of the state's 250,000 hunters and/or OHA's 11,000 members participate.

'Might be a message in there that some at OHA need to think seriously about growing the membership and improving the website. Don

The pics add up to 1.7 meg on the front door of the site; that probably is a bit overpowering to anyone on dialup.

Re: OHA fee increase Poll
I voted yes. We want better management and more enforcement but fee should stay the same. Sorry guys that does not compute. Anyway I hope all of you attend one of the town hall meetings and hear what ODFW has to say.
SO WHAT WOULD YOU DO TO THE OHA WEBSITE? SEND A MESSAGE TO OHA HEADQUARTERS AND TELL DUANE WHAT YOU WANT TO SEE! Let me know also I would like to see new ideas.
I would like to see a forum and I chat. Have asked about that more than once over the years.
Most site are (powerfull) that means complex! I like them simple give me a menu and let me pick and choice what I want to see and read. Like this site if I do nota want to hear about sealions I do not have to click the thread.

Re: OHA fee increase Poll
It's up to 106 votes now, c'mon & keep 'em coming...
As for the website, it's much improved from what it started out as. The will is there to make it better, as in more informative and easier to use, but there is a learning curve involved. It's better today than a year ago and a year ago it was better than the year before that. I believe that it will continue to get updated and gradually become what many of us desire to see out of OHA. Old Soldier is correct that the best way to make this happen is to say so. The organization is driven by membership involvement so the more people that request a web presence upgrade, the faster it will happen. Here's a link to all the OHA "Movers and Shakers" so let 'em know what you think.

If I'm not mistaken anyone who wants to "let 'em know what you think" IN PERSON would probably have the opportunity to do so at the OHA General Membership meeting at 1:00pm at Chinook Winds Casino in Lincoln City on May 17th.

Re: OHA fee increase Poll
the websites problem, is that is set up for highspeed internet. when i open any site, if it takes more than a couple minutes to load i never go to the site. IFISH is the slowest loading site i visit, once i load it everything runs fast enough. not so with the OHA site. it is way to top heavy with pictures, so every page takes forever

You have to pay to play. I am confused why someone with a $40K truck, a $20K camper, a custom $2K rifle, spending $500 for gas and booze on a single hunt would stop hunting becuase the tag went up $10.

Re: OHA fee increase Poll
Can't pay and play anymore. Time for the ODFW to get more from the general fund.
Besides, you're not getting MORE for the increase, they're just tredding water.
And thanks for the link - I voted no.
