Default Transmission/auto Shop

Does anyone have any advise on where to go to have transmission fluid flushed?

I have a 96 volvo 850 turbo with 70k. I am not sure it has been done in the past and it was recommended at 60k according to Haynes. (the fluid level looks good, but it does seem to be a little dark with slight burnt smell)

I am thinking about doing it myself, but I have read reports that if you want it done right you should have it hooked up to a machine to flush because it works better than gravity to replace old fluid.

The car does seem to shift a little rough but not much at all.

In other words, I guess what I am looking for is a recommendation for an shop that will take a look, change the fluid, and give me an accurate and honest assessment.

Pm's accepted.

Thanks.

Took my old Jeep into the transmission shop yesterday to get a leak fix. He replaced my pan gasket, flushed my system, replaced the filter and filled it back up for $98.

This was Al's transmission in St Helens. Most likely a little far for you to drive, but I was happy with the service.

That sounds like a good deal.

I would not mind a little drive for good service.

I would go with whoever lundprov recomends, he knows every tranny guy in the area, and I'm sure he knows who's good and who's bad. My mom takes her car to a shop he recomended.

You don't need a transmission shop, any good shop can and will gladly do a transmission service on your vehicle.
