Junior Sports Pac
This seems like a pretty cool idea:
Kids' Sports Pac idea gains steam
Quote:
"Kids would be the biggest winners," says Dungannon, the state coordinator of the Medford-based Oregon Hunters Association. "They would be stocked with enough licenses and tags to get involved in a lot of hunting and fishing opportunities they would have missed out on."
And at a price of, say, $50, this "Junior Sports Pac" could make for a new generation's Christmas Story that lasts all year in Oregon's woods, waters and fields.
...

They go on to mention the potential lost revenue from these kids not buying the full price Sports Pac, but that's seen as an investment for increased numbers in the future.

Re: Junior Sports Pac
I've thought about that in the past. Personally, I can't afford to buy both my boys the full Sportspac, but I would go for the reduced price full meal deal! Sounds like a good idea to me!

Re: Junior Sports Pac
I asked the question about a youth combination license (duh!) or a jr sportspac at the first ODFW budget meeting in Clackamas. Director Roy Elicker said that it was actually in the first proposal but was cut for the presentation draft. In talking to Roger Furhman, it sounded like ODFW was interested in it but there were some issues to be worked out, IE: the different requirements for kids since licenses are required at different ages for fishing and hunting.
This is a great opportunity for everyone to submit comments on the proposed budget supporting increased youth opportunities. Your opinion can be heard by downloading the written comment form, filling it out and submitting it by May 5th to:
ODFW.Comments@state.or.us.

Re: Junior Sports Pac
I like that for sure. I spend well over that on Robert's tags every year.
