Default ABU Anti-Backlash

I picked-up a couple of the new ABU Garcia 6601 anti-backlash reels for my two boys 13 and 14 for christmas.

Has anyone tried these out? I tried the demo in at Bi-mart and it seemed to work great with mono line. I know the problems I have had with the kids and the birds nest. I have enough to deal with on my own! . I would like to put some Tuf Line on, but not sure how it would work with the anti-backlash. Has anyone tried these with a braided line? Hey haven't read the directions or watched the video (maybe it would tell me)....I figured you guys would know and it would save me from reading directions!

Thanks!

They are great reels to learn how to cast but on the other hand they do not cast very far. When you get the hang of it you will want to up grade to a better reel.

For ease of casting and backlash resistance I would put on mono. The stiffness of the mono helps to feed it out of the reel. Also mono is less likely to make loops around the guides and tip. Mono is also easier to get a good knot.

Does anti-backlash doesn't mean 100% never ever getting any type of birds nest?

Mono costs about 3 or 4 cents per yard
Tough line will cost you 2 to 3 times more $$$
Let 'em practice on the mono.
