We need to get some automotive A/C repairs done on our 88 chevy. Anyone know of a quality repair shop in the Hillsboro/Beaverton area? Also this is the old style R-12 system. Does anyone know the cost of a conversion kit? Any info would be helpfull.
Thanks.
Andy.

We did the conversion on my Blazer, and it wasn't too bad. Check Napa, I think you can get the conversion kits for less than $100. The problem is... you need you trap the existing R12 and depressurize the system before starting the conversion. You'll need someone handy with a wrench, but once the conversion is done, filling the system isn't bad.
Beaverton Macs radiators. They are on TV hwy just past Murray going towards Beaverton. Managers name is Dana. If you are going to be recharging your system you might as well use r12 while it is still available. If you are performing a a/c repair, it might pay to convert to r134a. The price difference is about 50$ a lb between r12 and r134a. I dont recommend converting yourself with one of those kits you can buy at Napa. First of all you need to be able to apply a vacuum on your a/c system for a minimum of 30 minutes. There is no way you can do that without the equipment.
