Default I got it, now I need help using it ...

My lovely, 170,000 BTU crab cooker. I think the instructions are written in Croatian or Turkmeni or something ... I don't understand them.

My problem is this -- there's a venturi to adjust the air content of the fuel mixture. I haven't got a clue what I'm trying to accomplish with this adjustment. Does the flame burn hotter with less air? Is it more wind resistant with less air in the mix? I get a nice blue flame no matter where I set the venturi, so what's up?

Wow! does that come with the 10gal bottle?

Pete, blue fire is good, yellow needs more air.

So, when do get to break it in cooking some brine spiders?

Pete, with the gas turned full on and the burner lit, close the air shutter completely which will produce a lazy yellow flame. With the flame burning, slowly open the shutter until the flame becomes blue but is not lifting off the burner head. This is the optimum burner adjustment. If the flame is lifting away from the burner ports you have to much primary air thus unburned fuel. Another rule of thumb is: blue without blowing (gas termonology).

Good Luck and enjoy

Thanks ... exactly what I wanted to know.

Pilar, I don't know when I'll harvest any spiders ... I think the sea needs to settle a bit before I challenge the wind Gods! ... but I've got the hunger ... you need a boat ride?
