Default Newport Report

Saturday the ocean was stellar as you can see in the background of the pic.

My son and I spent Saturday with Team Chasin Tail, AJ and John and got limits of bottom fish and several lings. A couple big Cabezons in the mix. Always good to have AJ and John on the boat.

Today my son and I went solo and got limits in a couple hours with only one legal ling and another large Cabezon.

I was impressed with the Lincoln County Sheriff who did an on the water inspection and gave me a new boat tag, with minimal disruption to my fishing time. I think other enforcement agencies could learn some public relations from the Lincoln County Sheriffs boat.

9 crab pots soaking in the ocean with tuna as bait all day, and 2 crabs. Not worth the effort

Roy, thanks for the great day on the Ocean!! It's always a treat to fish with you & Jack!

Let me tell you, Jack was pretty quiet at first, but when we kept telling him when he fishes with the guys, he has to give the smack talk as much as he recieves. Well, he's a quick study! He was smack talking with the best of them by the afternoon. Of course I gave him plenty of reason by popping off one of his big cabs right by the boat. That's not even the worst part, but it got tangled in Roy's line on the way down and I had a second chance and missed it again. Oh well, I knew I deserved every bit of smack talking I took... Thanks Roy for letting me tell the story!

Well Roy put up some nice photo's, but I'm going to add a few I took. It truly was a nice day to shake the cob webs off from a long winter break from the big blue...

Morning sun coming over the Yaquina Light House

Jack, winching one up...Look at that concentration!

Jack with a nice one!!

Tore up swim bait!

Swim Bait with a chewed tail!

Nice ling with a jig in its lip!

AJ landing a nice cab

Look at the colors that match the swim bait!!

Mornings worth of gear

Thanks again Roy for a great morning!!

Nice pictures the boy looks like he is pulling in a hog with that tongue hanging out. I should have gone fishing instead of buying all that stuff. Every time I don’t bring the boat the water looks like that. John seed he was going to cut the axle on my boat so the water would stay that nice great job guys

"A HUGE THANKS" to BOE and his son and first mate Jack aka (BOE JR.) for a great morning of bottom fishing off Newport. We had great weather and too much fun! Thanks Roy, seeing Jack boat the first fish was priceless, and then he kept them coming, well done JR. From team "Chase'n Tail" John and I appreciate you invite prior to the Swap meet, we could'nt think of any better way to start a "Salty Dog" event then on the ocean first. We look forward to returning the favor soon. Thanks again, AJ
