Re: My BIGGEST Bass Ever!! pics....
thanks guys!
haha Brett now you know why I was excited!
I caught it on a dark green worm that had a twister tail, not quite sure what it was called... It was the only one I had of that kind and a bass ended up stealing it tonight, so i'm going to have to go out and get some more!

Did you put her on a scale or get the length/girth measurements?

For largies, I would not use anything smaller than an EWG 2/0, but depending on worm size I have used up to a 4/0. This is assuming your texas rigging the worm....

It also might vary depending on the length of your worm.
Here is a helpful guide for worm techniques also.

This is a link to "A guide to modern rigging" which should help you try out new rigging techniques.

Re: My BIGGEST Bass Ever!! pics....
Well I switched over to my fly rod and tied a fly for bass last night, but I ended up catching a bunch of bluegill on it instead . Those sure are fun on a fly rod, I'll keep going after the bass with it though. Does anyone have any easy patterns of flies that I can tie up for bass?

Re: My BIGGEST Bass Ever!! pics....
Caught some more bass today!
I pulled my old duck sneak boat out and started fishing from the edges to the middle and the results were awesome!
I caught 3 bass total this morning but didn't have a camera or scale for the first two. The first one was around 3 lbs, second was about 4lb+ and here is the last small one!
The weight was 2lbs 10oz and that is the weight of just the fish because I put the scale to zero after putting the tupperware on.

Re: My BIGGEST Bass Ever! more fish caught!
Thanks
Yes the fish was released... Every fish I catch in this pond is released.
Is there something wrong with that?
I had the fish out of the water just long enough to put on the scale,(the scale is right under my legs in my boat.... the blood is because it is spawning.

Re: My BIGGEST Bass Ever! more fish caught!

anyways, it is ur pond if im not mistaken so you have the right to take pics however you want!

Re: My BIGGEST Bass Ever! more fish caught!
I apoligize for the , looked like that fish was done!! If you released it good on you. I dont care if people keep some smaller fish, but you could obviously tell that fish was ready to spawn (blood and all). Don't keep the spawners if you want to keep fishing!!!! You have to admit most people dont put fish in a basket on a food scale, not that there is anything wrong with that, but it makes one wonder (especially with that picture). If the pic showed you in the boat that is one thing, but it looked like it was on your kitchen counter. My Bad Fish on son.

haha, ok i'll give you that, but I coudn't think of any other way to weigh them quick. (i'll take the pic zoomed out next time so you can tell....
I take quick and great care with all the fish I catch so that they go unharmed, and to insure a great fishing pond for years and years down the road.
Thanks everyone.

Your doing great, a true conservationist. Sounds like an non-intrusive way to weigh em and snap a pic. Are you sure that was even blood it just looks like eggs to me. She probably dumped that load soon after being released. Good work!

Re: My BIGGEST Bass Ever! more fish caught!
Wow that is a pretty fat fish for 2 1/2 pounds. That poor thing was just bloated with eggs, but that's the kind of thing you want to see in a private pond. You have years and years of good fishing ahead of you. Fun stuff. Good job

Re: My Biggest Bass Ever! Caught for a Second time....
Caught 4 more bass today! 3 ranging from 2-3 1/2 lbs and the other around 5.
They are finally striking stuff off the top of the water.
Also caught 2 bluegill.
All Bass were caught on frogs, and the bluegill on worms.
