Default Looking for shotgun stocks

I want to fit some shotguns to my kids so I'm looking for some stocks that I can do some modifications to. ( not happy with slip on/glued on pads. already have an adjustable comb on one, don't want to do that again.)

If anyone has or knows where to pick up some beat up stocks for the following, it would be appreciated.

Rem 870 express (12 ga. if it matters)
Rem Sportsmans 48
Win 1300 youth

I'll post it on the classifieds also.

Llamma77, your comment caught my attention, I've got to admit I fell into that category of idiot. Maybe naive would be more accurate.

I play around with woodworking and decided I was going to build a stock for an old savage out of some top grade walnut. After ruining the 3rd block (stock quality wood isn't cheap), I finally came to the realization that it takes more than some carving knives, a band saw and a dremel to build a stock (it takes a lot more!). I found a company in Florida that sells pre-cut, unfinished stocks for most models. I think that I paid $65 for the two piece stock (not bad at all compared to a synthetic replacement). At least I got to sand and stain it.

No, I am not an idiot. I did that with my .410 (remember my oldest kid shooting it?). I just did such a great job that I didn't need to borrow any of your duct tape (notice I said duct, not duck. duct tape is way more superior)

I know you're getting tired of me always correcting you, but just in case someone else is reading this, I don't want them to be misled. You need to use a 2x6 or a 2x8, a 2x4 isn't tall enough for proper comb height and room for a recoil pad. And don't bother trying to stain the doug fir, it won't turn out that good.

But hey, it fit my kid, he can hit clays with it, and it didn't cost me a dime.

bo4elk,
Can you pm me the info on that company?
I bought from Wenig, but they were more expensive.

My kids are growing, so I may be modifying these a few times. That's why I'm looking for some beat up ones.

Thanks

Check-out Numrich Gun Parts online. I just purchased a "youth / female" stock for my wife's 20 ga. for about $25. Taking my 9 y.o. son east for a couple of days to see how it fits.....and hits.

can't remember the name of the company in missouri and they made high end stocks. my cousin worked there and we got seconds occasionally which were extremely nice product in their own right.
disclaimer last time was 20-30 years ago, my cousin has passed away etc etc etc. but maybe you can find someone selling seconds cheaper.
