Default Diving Plug Rigging?

How long a drop lead and leader do you use when running a diving plug, either on the anchor or trolling in deeper water and current to ensure a diving plug (like a Wiggle Wart) is not just "pounding the bottom" or is running too shallow, out of the 1 to 2 foot "kill zone" up off the bottom?

Divers are good, but sure like to know exactly where my plug is, in 15 to 25 foot of water. Have seen some methods where a small "cork bobber" is tied in the middle of the leader between the plug and the dropper/mainline.

Tried and true methods you want to share with the board?

Rick

I don't generally troll warts with lead but when using kwikfish I like about 1 1/2 feet of dropper and will bounce it back as far as it will reasonably go and reel up two cranks. Tends to work well for me.
