Where Do the Bass Go When Lily Pads Appear

A local lake has been producing LM bass throughout the winter months. I was able to catch bass right up until the lily pads began popping up. When the pads first appeared, the bass were still hitting hard, but as soon as they thickened, and the pads became bigger, the bass have virtually disappeared. What's your take on this? Is it a feeding pattern, or spawn, do you know?

I would start focusing my attention on stageing areas adjacent to bedding areas. Or maybe change my approach as far as speed and lure, change it up a bit... Good luck........

also with the weather like we have had this week focus on the thickest cover you can find in the north west end of the lake or pond.

yep staging areas. possibly even think of post spawn areas as well.
