1stTimePost
Hello there, one and all,
I have been reading, enjoying, and learning from your posts for some time. Thanks to all of you for your willingness to share with fellow fisherpersons.
I have never posted because I am just an everyday fisherman with no particular skills of knowledge to share with anyone. For most of my life, I have just fished for trout. However, more recently I have started to fish for salmon and steelhead. I caught my first river salmon last fall and my first steelhead a few weeks ago. I really don't have much to share with you in terms of storys, certainly none as good as most that I have seen here.
I did, though, have an encounter with a young fisherman today that I thought was amusing and worthy of sharing. I went to this pond to do a little trout fishing with my family. As I was approaching the pond, I saw this boy with a number of trout on his stringer. I got the impression that this may have been the kid's first real fishing adventure.
I remarked to the young man that he really had some nice trout. I asked him what he and his friends had been using. His reply - "Rods." Not wanting to embarrass him, I held back until he had left the immediate area, and then I cracked up. I thought that I was going to die laughing.
Good fishing to you all, and thanks again for all the help to those of us who read your advice and learn from it.

Re: 1stTimePost
When we were kids we use to fish Dairy creek by where Kilarny golf course is now just west of Hillsboro.
My buddy landed a 17 inch cutthroat. When I asked him what he used, he replied, "20 pound test". To this day whenever he asks me what I was using I give him the old 20 pound test jab. Good story, thanks for conjuring up old memories, and welcome aboard
