Well it's cold and wet outside, but I'm looking at my steelhead flies and think I'll head out for some early season scouting below some man-made structures today...
Well, between the sun and the snow showers here in the valley I managed to land three nice smolts swinging below one of those man-made barriers.. Had a run-in with a fellow fly fisher who had one big take.
I suspect the fish are in the area, not alot, but enough to make another try in a week or two.
I was tempted to drive down there from Portland to fish the MB hatch but the weather kept me closer to home. I still want to get down there this spring.
