Default What are...

Go-glows or Glo-go's, are they the same thing? What do they look like? Can someone post a picture?

And, ray bobber? Don't know what that is either. picture?

I'm probably gonna get some surpised reactions for not knowing what these are. Hey, I'm in the learning mode...

Ray Bobbers are old-school drift bobbers. They're made of hollow plastic, and kind of resemble a cheater. If memory serves me right, they're named after their inventor--a guy named "Ray" who lived in Washington. I don't think they're still commercially available.

On the subject of drift bobbers you don't see much anymore, whatever happend to Okies? I hardly ever see them these days--either in stores or on the water. What gives? Everyone seems to be obsessed with corkies now days.

Glo-go's are one of my favorite steely drift bobbers ever. Love the red and white. If anybody has any they want to get rid of I have a left arm I'd be willing to give up..

A ray bobber is shaped like a child's top. They were devoped on Washington's Olympic Peninsula for steelhead that preferred large profile drift lure (some up to three inches long). The year 1953 saw the first ray bobber.

Glo-go's are oval shaped with wings that run about 2/3 the length of the body. They are made of hard plastic and for some reason are the go to bait when the bite gets tough. I prefer them over spin glo's.

RipDatLip,
Dot (FISHRUS) awhile back ago posted a number of pictures of such things as okies, birdies, go-glows, ray bobbers and such. Here is the link to that site. You can just click on the smaller pics on the left and they will enlarge.

Just click on the link below!http://www.picturetrail.com/gallery/...6896&members=1

Cool pics! Do you have a "Fire Cluster" oakie spinner by the old Grizzly company? I found one still on the card! Yes, with the F&H news coupon on the back. Anyone know its value?

I'll buy hot pink oakies. I'm out and they were my favorite "when nothing else will work" lure

A lot of that stuff I have seen before. Heck, I still fish with some of that stuff... Maybe it is time to retire some of it. Don't they sell cheap knock-offs of the glo-gos?

RipDatLip,
Your question about a knockoff of go-glows; I believe that the nearest thing made to them now would be spin floats or ? They dont make birdies anymore so I cant list them.....Go-glows were made out of plastic and spin floats are made out of styrofoam.

Don't give your hopes up yet... I wish the Pentac santa would come along as well. Anyways, I have more ideas, like taking the sunrise okies I have, running a wire through there and making my own drift lures, spinner, etc.I bet that would produce some fish.

My father in lay was going throught his old fishing stuff and gave me a bunch of things and i bet he gave me about two hundred oakies and about fifty glo-go's it is funny i will be fishing with an oakie and have people ask what it is or where i got it. My favorite is the pink pearl oakie fished on the sandy(pipeline hole) and you are right when nothing else is working sometimes thease will produce a bite. I sometimes use the glo-go's on the clack but i like to stick to my oakies till i loose them all then i will just have to find more. I have every color from fire red to green even got one black one. And sorry guys there not for sale i kinda wanna keep them. but i will tell you this i have been know to be fishing along the river and if someone ask for one to try out i do share. later
