My son at first did not want to turkey hunt he said he thought it was G** and he perfered to hunt waterfowl because he likes when the birds lock up and come in with their feet down in his face. until he saw the bird srutt and spit and drum at 5 feet from him. He is now hooked and love both waterfowling and turkey hunting the same. His goal is to shoot his next bird with a bow and blackpowder. He is becoming a great hunter, during this youth weekend he let 6 jakes go without shooting. I asked him why and he told me it is because he shot a long beard last year (11 in beard, 23lbs and 1 1/8 spurs) so he said a jake is for someone who has not ever shot a bird like a child. So you really have to him for his sportsmanship. He said he got to see the birds flydown and fight at 25 yds infront of the blind.
