Got my first birdie todaY!
After several, and I do mean several bad attempts at birdies I finally got a great one yesterday. It was the first hole (par 4) of Cedars. My second shot went to the right just to the far side of the right bunker so my third shot was going to have to be chipped over the bunker and onto the green. I took aim reading the break and fired away.......................... * in the cup it went. I always figured I would get my first birdie doing something goofy like that. It was from about 40 ft out. Then on the 6th hole I sank a 30 ft putt with a bad break. This was a good game but I lost three balls and took a few more drops and ended with a sucky 54. Also, I have been playing with shaped shots lately and had a really good fade around a tree yesterday.

Nice, may it be the first of many more to come, its always easier when you sink it from off the green then you dont have to worry about putting

Nice going! Wait until you birdie #9 at Cedars, then it will feel even better. That's one tough hole. I haven't played Cedars in a few years and heard they made a few changes to the back nine. I'll have to get out there this summer.

Re: Got my first birdie todaY!
Reel Big Fish, I birdie number 9 regularly........now. They changed the course. It no longer will be going up the hill, bummer, but the new hole is going to be a great par 4 ending right before the creek. Im also, hoping that they make the 10th pins start behind the pond and keep it a par 5.

Re: Got my first birdie todaY!
Congratulations! May your second one follow soon.
Birdies are good. Focus on eliminating the double bogies, though, and your score will go lower, faster.

Re: Got my first birdie todaY!
Do not know about the ball thing .But when I was missing birdie to the left ect I adjusted my swing out in front more the went to a 121/2 in mag .It improved my down range and dropped alot more birdies.

Re: Got my first birdie todaY!
I had my irons and putting/chipping/lob wedges down pretty good but my big stick wasnt so hot. Now my drivers gotten good and my irons to my putter went way down hill. I had taken lessons and loosened my grip. This last week though my putting came back first after I made a grip change, then my chipping is starting to work and I also had an excellent lob over a pond and a sand trap yesterday so that is coming around again also. It's just a matter of time before it all will come back together and I will have a great round. Im getting to most par 4's and some par 5's in 2 but with my short irons lacking it was pure hell. So, Im due for a good one any day.

Re: Got my first birdie todaY!
Congrats! Such a fun and frustrating game. Went out Saturday for the first full round of the year and played pretty well for 4-5 months of not playing. Then last night played a par 3 and couldn't control my distances at all.
Sometime we should get a group of ifishers out for 18 somewhere.

I've done that switcheroo back and forth for five years. Driver or irons, can't hit both well.

Re: Got my first birdie todaY!
I don't play very well, but an occasional "tweet" always keeps me coming back for more!!!
I just have to keep reminding my self that golf is...
"an ineffectual attempt to guide an uncontrollable sphere into an inaccessible hole with instruments ill-adapted for the purpose"
...and then I feel better!!!!!!!!
