We are buying our first digital camera and was wondering what people are useing. I am looking at a 3 or 4 MP, like the Cannon G2, Pro90, S40/30. I am also open to other brands and modles any experts out there who can help?

After dunking (and destroying) :depressed: my Sony Mavica 75 on the OP last year I stepped up and bought the Sony Mavica 87. I really like it. It takes clean pics, with a bit of video and the floppy disks are real slick.. you can find them online for under $400.

There is a lot of info somewhere on this board about digital cameras.
Try the search feature.
I went through the same thing about a year ago.

Here is a sweet site. They have a ton of sample pics from every camera of the same things so you can compare them.

The only problem with the Sony is I don't think you can get 3 or 4 megapixel out of one. I liked the idea of a floppy for storage because it's so universal. But if you look at how many pics you can fit on a 64MB memory card, odds are you won't run out of memory.
My brother just bought one ( I think it's an Olympus ) anyway's you plug it into the USB port and internal software in the cam makes the computer recognize it as another drive so you don't have to worry about having special software.
You can also make quicktime movies on the Olympus.

I just got a catalog in the mail from 800.com, and there's a Sony Mavica that's capable of 3.3 megapixel images. What's unique about it is that it records to a built-in 3" mini-CD (CD-R or CD-RW). Cost is $999.95. Also shown is a Sony Cyber-Shot 4.1 megapixel, 3x optical zoom, and uses 128mb Memory Sticks - $799.95.

Does anyone have any information about the water-resistance of Sony's? That mini-CD really looks awesome!
