Default SPINNER BLADES

HELLO, TO ALL. I'm also new so please bare with me. I'm just now starting to make my own spinners and have read books by Jed Davis. In them he recommends blades with a .025 thickness. I'm only having luck finding .019. Does anyone know where i might be able to find the .025 blades? and just what is the difference? Any info greatly appreciated. KEEP A TIGHT LINE!!!

Kenai try the B.C. angleing shop at the oregon city shopping center next to rite aid .as far as the 19 mm blade verses the 25mm is the 25 is heavier and jed always stresses the use of a heavy blade to go deeper while retrieving slow.

Try Mor-tac, formerly Pen-tac (Jed Davis' old company). They stamp their blades out of .32 steel and plate with real silver, 24 K gold, brass, copper and black.

Welcome Kenaidog,

Making your own spinners is a great pass time, not to mention very rewarding catching fish on spinners you made yourself. I like heavier blades too, they seem to spin a little slower, resonate more, provide more flash since the blade hangs further away from the body. You can change your retrieve to make the blade dance/flutter to help extratct a bite better with heavier blades. There might only be marginal difference, but heavier blades pull through faster water better then thin light blades. They just stay down longer with greater flash. That's my opinion.

BC Angling post should be able to set you up in the Portland area. Since I live further south, I purchase my spinner componets from GI Joes or Fisherman's Shack which also has a web page.

Fisherman's Shack

good luck,

Gregg

To be honest I like the 0.019 blades...they allow for a good roll/spin when you want to work over faster water..if so just add more body weight...another benny...you can have a longer presentation...I also build my own..if you get the silver finish...look for the "Mat-Silver" I typically will buy the brass...then take them to ESP to get a .005 mat silver..then buff to the color I need...also if you are painting them I have been painting on the brass with a base coat then go to your color's....
