Re: What rivers will fish tomorrow??
If I was going to fish tomorrow, I would probably go over and fish the Deschutes. Coast rivers are out of the question for a couple of days. Drove over the Sandy today on the I84 bridge and it looked like chocolate milk. Current level is 13.42 as of 2:00 pm today. I am no expert on the Sandy, but everyone I have talked to says it should be 11.5 or lower. I guess if it is starting to drop and clearing up a bit, it may be worth a try. Fishing could be good, catching may be slow.
If you have a boat, go chase gators on the Columbia. Wind is not supposed to be too bad tomorrow.
Good Luck

Caught fish on the Clack. today. Nine fish on and two limits kept. Fishing behind the dam at Estacada. When we left the river was at 15.2 and was still fishable, guy still were hauling them in.

Re: What rivers will fish tomorrow??
It will be tough to find a fishable river for steelhead around here. I would try sturgeon or maybe an east side river. I went today to a zipper and we hooked quite a few steelhead but with all this rain who knows about tomorrow.

HT BUZZO,
YUP, providing we get little or no rain. Then it should be perfect. Otherwise it will still fish, just a little quick is all. I've been up to scout, and the water has very good color, just waiting for the fish to show  Check the hatchery out

I fished Gnat Creek on Sat. Caught 1. the color was really nice but it was a tad high. Call the hatchery at 503-455-0701 and see what the current conditions are.

Re: What rivers will fish tomorrow??
Wow William, 7 steelhead on the 11th and now 9 on the 16th. You sure seem to be doing much better than anyone I'm hearing from. Correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe they've stopped allowing hatchery fish to move up past the dam at River Mill. Has to do with them protecting the native fish while spawning. All of those hatchery fish are also headed to either Dog Creek or Eagle creek, neither of which is above the dam. Sure there are strays, but that is quite a lot for this early in a reputedly late run. Would you mind clarifying where you were fishing? When you say behind, to me that means upriver, perhaps you mean downriver or below? Obviously you don't have to give away such a successful spot, but inquiring minds would like to know which dam you were "behind": River Mill or perhaps even N. Fork.

Re: What rivers will fish tomorrow??
We parked at Mciver. and walked up to the dam on the south side and fished the lower end on the 11th. On sun. we fished in the big eddy at the mouth of dog creek. There was no one at the dam which is unusual and fish all over the place. I also expected the winters to show up a little later, but with all the high water we've been having, thy're there now. Eagle Creek is full of fish too. I'm heading back up there tomorrow. We'll have to hook up some time. Let me know if this helps any.

Re: What rivers will fish tomorrow??
Birdhunter...I think you might want to believe William. I've heard of 30 fish days last week from one boat which ended up with almost a hundred fish for a three day period around the area that Williams speaks about. It's going to be a good year for winter fish.
I had another friend on the coast have a hundred fish plus week last week also.
Hook sharp?

Re: What rivers will fish tomorrow??
Sandy may be a bit high for some folks but the color at Oxbow and above is pretty good and fish are being caught daily. I've seen fish every day over the last two weeks. Should be good tomorrow AM with the river dropping. Freezing level uis dropping and no rain today should keep it on the drop.

Thanks for the clarification William, obviously you know what you're doing. We were planning on hitting Eagle Creek tomorrow also, that is if the ducks aren't flying. Might see ya there. Thanks.

Re: What rivers will fish tomorrow??
I called the Eagle Creek hatchery today. They said they had 50 odd fish with more coming in, but the river was blowed out and probably wouldn't fish very well tomorrow.
Of course, this is a hatchery worker who doesn't have nearly the amount of interest in fishing as me, sitting at home, dreaming of making up for the last fish I hooked and lost- about a 12 pound chrome hatchery buck on the Alsea. I caught three others last week, but the last one got off. That always leaves a hole where a fish should be.
Maybe we'll see you guys up there tomorrow, slinging eggs into deep muddy pockets full of 20 pound winters.
