December wishes
December wishes.
Sitting by an open fire,
Watching the falling snow.
Getting anxious for a fishing trip.
Wondering where to go.
December is the month,
That the steelie's run.
We wait with rod and reel,
to see them jumping in the sun.
Our lures are filling our pockets.
So many, that they sag.
The sporting stores just love us.
Especially when they fill our bags.
Now the snow has quit.
But rain is falling down.
So much the rivers overflow their banks.
We must be careful not to drown.
The rivers rise so high.
They flow through a city street.
We wait at favorite launches,
so we can beat the fishing fleet.
The rivers drop an inch.
The color seems just right.
We rush the many streams,
To fish with all our might.
We find that mighty fish,
In each and every hole.
Catching and releasing many,
but keeping one is our goal.
December is a lovely month,
It keeps us all a wishing.
A very special time,
To enjoy the steelhead fishing.
