Hey Verysweepy--WAKE UP! The Daiichi hooks are the best for fly tying. However, for bait fishing, ect. the Gammis are tops in my list. I figure it this way, your fishing time is more valuable then the price difference between bargin hooks and good ones. The hook is the only direct connection to the fish.

Easy there Pete. Don't mention the "G" word around here. The locals get all upset. It's MUSTAD, Pete. MUSTAD....

Daiichi's are great fly hooks for most wet fly applications however they become dull the first time they hit a rock and are extremely hard to sharpen. Sharp hooks are extremely important when fly fishing because the fish has to hook itself. It is my opinion and experience that a sharp hook is not nearly as important in gear fishing because in gneral you feel the fish and drive the hook home yourself, Of course there is plug pulling and plunking in thoes applications i'd want super sharp hooks but on a spinner or drift fishing I think it is less critical unless you are using a very limber rod!
most important thing is that when the rivers drop back into shape ,well ok if they drop back into shape, that you be there!!

Sorry there Parker, but I thought Mustad was what I put on my hot dogs and hamburgers
Seriously tho, I really thought the marjority of the fishing population in Oregon and Washington prefered Gammis. Why do you like the Mustads over the others?

Pete. I think you missed the sarcasm and attempt at humor in my reply. Just take a look at my .sig. I think that said it all.
