Default Talk About UGH!

Guess we will have to leave a day early to fish now, due to future traffic in the Gorge. Wonder how much wild fish will be on the menu at the buffet? I know a bunch of mine swam away healthy this year below Bonneville, only to find the nets not too far upstream and then hit the $1.50 a pound street market at Cascade Locks. Will not visit this place.

Gambling: A voluntary luxury entertainment tax

Indians: The only group with enough clout to prevent extenction of the columbia river salmon runs.

It's all a question of "What they do with the money".

Where will the profits go??

Hey...some of us like to gamble. Maybe some of us actually come out ahead. Maybe for some of us...it IS just entertainment. But to some....it can become an addiction that can ruin families, etc.

Just suff to think about.

Myself...I couldn't win in a casino if I had all the money in the world. I'm a lousy gambler.

Thank god for fishing, the great outdoors, and the company of good friends to enjoy it all with you.

Casino??? I won't be there..I'd rather be fishing!!

Hey Tanner, don't you mean it's time to break the treaty "again". Look at it this way you guys. Anybody that wants to spend money in a casino and I'll admit that I do occasionally is less competition on the water for you. And if the Columbia River tribes make as much as the other Casinos in this state maybe they will abandon trying to make money fishing. Just a thought?
Personally I would rather people that gamble spend it here than in Nevada where it goes to the family. As for traffic in the gorge? It can't get much worse and the weather pretty much regulates it anyway. I really have to choke when I hear people say it will detract from the beauty of the gorge. Like Shilo Inn, Burlington Northern, Garbage Haulers, HydroElectric dams, Lumber mills, Truck weigh Stations, Aluminum plants, WalMart, don't?. The island location at Cascade Locks would have been the perfect setting but it was quashed by Dr. No.
Bottom line is I don't weed out the people I do business with by their politics or their philosophy or their ethnic origin as long as they supply the product in a fair and regulated fashion. You will not find a more regulated gambling industry in this country than in Oregon whether it be state or tribal. No you don't win, you are not supposed to, it's strictly entertainment.

I must agree about the Casino gambling by the tribes. Look at all the good that the Spirit Mountain and Chinook Winds Casino have generated for the local areas. Their tribal members are able to educate their children and provide more jobs for all of them. This gets them a better place in the world.

Then maybe we won't have misuse by some, in handling the fishing situation on the Columbia. My only complaint is that the Gov. wants to stop them from building where it will cause the least conflict. What money interest has his brain?

That location in Cascade Locks would be great except it would do away with some good bass fishing area. Oh well.
