Hey Tanner, don't you mean it's time to break the treaty "again". Look at it this way you guys. Anybody that wants to spend money in a casino and I'll admit that I do occasionally is less competition on the water for you. And if the Columbia River tribes make as much as the other Casinos in this state maybe they will abandon trying to make money fishing. Just a thought?
Personally I would rather people that gamble spend it here than in Nevada where it goes to the family. As for traffic in the gorge? It can't get much worse and the weather pretty much regulates it anyway. I really have to choke when I hear people say it will detract from the beauty of the gorge. Like Shilo Inn, Burlington Northern, Garbage Haulers, HydroElectric dams, Lumber mills, Truck weigh Stations, Aluminum plants, WalMart, don't?. The island location at Cascade Locks would have been the perfect setting but it was quashed by Dr. No.
Bottom line is I don't weed out the people I do business with by their politics or their philosophy or their ethnic origin as long as they supply the product in a fair and regulated fashion. You will not find a more regulated gambling industry in this country than in Oregon whether it be state or tribal. No you don't win, you are not supposed to, it's strictly entertainment.
