Default one less Big Fish in a small pond

caught on powerbait, size 14 treble, four pound leader, five foot pole rigged with an egg sinker off the bottom by about three feet. In a pond that probably doesn't measure 3 acres in size. never would have believed that fish this big lived in there, especially since it hasn't been stocked this year. Shallow, small, you can hear I-84 through the trees on one side, the wind blowing up the Columbia gorge on the other. Had all three kids along, plus the dog, tossing rocks, sticks, yelling, running around. I was tossing lures about fifty yards away from the kids when this fish jumped out of the water...I just figured "how about that..fishing in the wrong spot again." I looked back to see my wife and son working to real that same fish in...really neat stuff. Good job to them both.

This pic is just comparing the size of the fish to the height of my daughter. measures to be about 29 in length.

Holy cow.....nice trout!

One question.....was there an adipose fin on it? If it was clipped it is a surplus steelhead from a hatchery that they probally dumped in there recently. If it has a fin, then it has grown up in there.

It looks like a steelhead.

Anyways fantastic job and all that on 4lb leader....Amazing!

I'll bet that was a blast! How cool for the wife to catch it too! I am sure she won't let you forget that for a while. Very fun, and your little girl is adorable!
