Default Klaskanine River

I used to fish the Klaskanine River below the hatchery. We got some late Chinook in December and many Steelies. I keep looking for reports from the Ifish fisherman but nothing ever appears. Are there fish still there or not? Anyone still fish it?

I have back problems and trouble getting up and down banks and I remember that the river used to have a very level area to fish just below the hatchery. Would appreciate any info.

Thanks.

Hawg; the level area is still there but it used to be a county park. Now, its just an open field with little to no care. I learned to fish there in about 1970 when there were fish in the river. Each yeay I still go once or twice for old time sake. The fish are not there like they used to be but there is a few still coming in. If you go, you may not see another person all day. No fishermen because they have let the run drop to small numbers. Try big Creek of maybe the Nechanicum at the park. Let us know if you find them. Also I think that is the NF Clatskanine.

You cannot catch a fish on a dry hook, go fishing

Thanks Snapshot. There used to be a big run there and a lot of fisherman. Sad that these things get dropped. Too many politics involved and too many people that only want native fish. I like to fish and I release them even if they are hatchery fish. But I do like to get to fish areas that are easy to get to and it seems that many of those rivers are falling away. :depressed:

Hawgcatcher - That river sure used to put out a lot of fish. I've tried it the last few years with mixed success. Check the trap at the hatchery. If it has fish in it I've found their will be a few in the river. On the days it was empty I didn't touch a thing. If you like to move from river to river a Klaskanine check followed by Necanicum or Big Creek works pretty well.
