Default Sportjet gear oil change

Any of you sportjet owners change your gear oil yet(drive housing and strator)? Did you do it yourself or take it to a dealer? On paper it looks fairly simple. Dad's boat is ready and I figure I can use his as the guinea pig.

Thanks

I did mine. Bought the shop manual first and it helped. Learned a few other things along the way you would like to know 1st. I'm willing to help you out, Email me if you like and we can talk about it over the phone. The job's not too complicated, but my time to type it in now is limited. Jay

I di my Sportjet last year and it was a piece of cake. Just pull the plugs and let it drain. It will help alot if you get the screw in adptor for the oil pump to get it in the gear case, I think it was about $10 and I beleive that I got it at Stevens. Allow plenty of time for the oil to drain with the cold weather. Good luck.

Waterdog, nothin to it dude. You get you 1/2 case of BudLight. Then you get a small bucket and all you have to do is open up that little thing'y on the bottom of the motor and let the oil drain in the bucket. Then you find the little thing'y you dropped in the oil, clean it off and then find the hole the little thing'y goe's in and screw it back in. You dont have to worry about the strator, if its a little crooked its still gonna work so dont worry about it. Never tried doing it on paper, i always did it in the carport or the neighbors driveway. Its real simple so i know you can do it. Iam free this weekend and can help you if you need it. Other wise iam going cat fishing if i can find the cat.

WaterDog,
The first thing you should do is take your boat to the nearest dealer, then trade the thing in for an inboard and don't worry about no stinking gear oil Just teasing buddy  I have a pal that does that sort of thing for a living. If you are still looking to do her yourself and need some help let me know. I can get the details from him and pass it to you.
