Default Deschutes - Mouth or Maupin?

Just curious as to whether we'd be wasting our time steelheading the lower river or if our time would be better spent around the Maupin area?

It can be great fishing at the mouth this time of the year if you have a dropping stabile river. You'll find most of the fish close to the bank in slower water.

Hooks sharp?

Freezing level is dropping to 500 feet that generally means nasty weather in the Gorge. there will be steelhead at the mouth and probably no people, just make sure it's safe to drive there first

I'd bet there would be more fish up higher. Up by the gate? Mac's canyon?

A lot of 'B' fish hang out in the lower 'D' this time of year. Can be great fishing! Either hit or miss, big time, and the river is yours.

Good luck!
