Suttle Lake Ramp Open
Slid my inflatable pontoon boat over 2' of snow this morning, thinking we'd only be sharing the lake with the canoe that was out when we arrived. About two hours later someone brought an EXCAVATOR! down the ramp and had an 8' wide swath to the water by about noon. Ten minutes later the first boat on a trailer was launched.
Lots of fish showing on the sounder, but the surface temp was only 40 degrees..... a full 5 degrees below where we usually start seeing some decent fish activity. Trolled a couple hours and had one hit. Jigged a while and had another hit. Bait fished and had 4 or 5 very tenative hits but no hookups. Lots of nice fresh 32 degree water flowing into the lake from all the snow melting. Things can change pretty quick and with this awesome weather, and I expect the fishing to pick up quickly. We did hook a couple of browns.
