Default 2002 Springer Season Hype?

Lots of gloating in the Boragonian this morning from Bill Monroe. Great to know that the run will rival this years Spring return but.....sounds like the commercials are going to get more time in the water too. This kind of crap cuts down productivity for the sport angler. It especially affected the Willamette this year.

What will the outcome of the january 31 ruling be? We thougth we'd get to fish through the end of April this year. NOT!!! 2002? I sure hope we can.

So, whats your take on all this baloney coming from ODFW?

Just plan on getting screwed by ODFW & WDFW, so nothing will surprise you. I really appreciate groups like NSIA representing us and I have myself contributed letters, phone calls and the like, but it just feels like the departments bow down to the commercial interests time after time. We just aren't that important to them.

I have been reading a new Salmon book which is more about history and its depressing. At one time 10-17 million salmon entered the Columbia, now we feel estatic with 2.5 million.

The hearing on these regs is tomorrow at ODFW ... have you testified? Have you provided written comment? It's not too late!

No Pete, I have not testified on this issue yet to my embarrasment. I did however take issue on the Sandy River last year and wrote to Kitzslobber, the Oregonian Editor, and forward a letrer to the ODFW and Sandy River Representitives.

Pete is there a fax Number to send a responce to? I cannot make the meeting and have not made the time to respond on this issue.
