Default Take a look at this hook!

Spring loaded ... maybe illegal in Oregon, but doesn't it look deadly?

Now, how do you get the sand shrimp to stay on it?... or keep it from deploying while you're drifting a tail out?

Pete,

There have been many times when even a hook like that wouldn't have done me any good. I sure would have liked to have it back in August when I lost what would have been my biggest chinook "by far" to a weak hook. How exactly do you think it works? Seems hard to bait. Maybe on a plug?

I think you tie onto the split ring, so when you give it a tug the ring slides up and releases the "skewers". Interesting that there are no barbs ... I guess if the hook is big enough, it isn't going anywhere.

I have seen them used back east for pike they are very harsh hooks and you might as well forget catch and relese. There are two wasy to use it eather lace the bait on with some kinda of string or the way i have seen it used the most is the back hook on a plug i have seen them do some damage to smaller pike what they do is sometimes when a smaller fish hits it it wil spring open right into there brain if not all the way out the other side talk about a fish that dose not fight. any way i would never use them out hear on salmon you could kill a native fish or even one you are not suppose to be catching.
