Default Trolling motor question?

Tried my 8 horse honda yesterday for the first time.
Pushes my 17'DB way too fast. Coho couldn't keep up.Couldn't even troll. Caught shakers all day instead.
I need to mount a trolling plate, wind socks or bucket.
Any preferences out there?
Thanks.

I don't know which wheel but they make a 7 pitch for it it will slow you down but you could over rev it at full throttle hopes this helps

B-Run,
I use a 5 gallon bucket with about (6) 1" diameter holes punched in the bottom. Just make sure the line you attach the bucket with is plenty long enough. Watch it on the turns, too.
