Default Kodiak Help

Am heading up North in Mid July for some sight seeing and adventures. One of the things we are thinking about doing is catching the ferry out of Homer and going to Kodiak for a few days. Heard the fishing is fantastic and the town is very small and beautiful.
Anyone been there that can recommend a charter or a place to stay?
Maybe do an overnighter on a boat if the price was within reason.

Any help or input much appreciated.

Thanks Kevin

I was fortunate to spend a couple years on Kodiak back when the world was young... beautiful place and great fishing as you have heard. I dont know any charters well enough to recommend but there are a few there. I'm sure you will have a great time.

My brother-in-law was stationed on Kodiak. I took a trip up there about five years ago. Took along a 6' medium action spinning rod and a box of spinners. My final fishing day, my goal was to catch a fish on every spinner in my box....and I did in about two hours....I had over 30 different spinners with me that day. What a blast. The local rivers are full of fish that time of year.

I stayed with the out laws that trip, so I'm no help on a place to stay. It seems like there was a fairly nice hotel/motel a few miles out of town towards the Coast Guard base and it was right on the river that we fished (the Buskin). We took a day and went further out of town and fished every stretch of water we came to with similar results.

I'm jealous, you'll have a blast.

One of the Ifish guides also runs a lodge on Kodiak, one of these days I'll have to check that out too.
