What kind of gloves
Do you guys use in the winter time. I now have a pair of Neopreme gloves and wool gloves and was wondering which ones you guys favor. I know the last time I kept mine in the pockets till just about the end of the drift. Oops They did stay nice and dry.
It seemed nicer to have the neopremes in case they get wet they would be easier to slip on and off quicker. Also which ones would you use while rowwing and just fishing. Fingerless or not?

Re: What kind of gloves
I just purchased a pair of Seal Skin gloves. I have only used them a couple of times, but these things are light weight cotten material that are totally water proof. Check them out. The down side to them is hooks really dig into them!

Re: What kind of gloves
The last few years I have been using Glacier gloves and love them. They are fingerless and have a fleece back with neoprene palms. My hands stay dry while pulling up the anchor rope, throw in a pair of handwarmers and my hands are toasty even when it is raining.

Re: What kind of gloves
i use a pair of gloves that are fingerless with a mitten cover that velcros back out the way. they have thinsulate in them so they stay pretty warm even when they get wet. the thumbs get pretty gobbed up with bait goo but otherwise i've been happy with them.

Re: What kind of gloves
The best place for a pair of gloves is on your hands and not in your pocket  LOL!
You probably noticed I wore neoprene gloves that had two fingerless fingers (say that fast 5 times) to them. I like them when the weather is a little warmer as they grip very well even when the it's really rainy. When it gets colder out I switch over to wool fingerless gloves and keep my finger tips warm with the heater....LOL..of course when there is gas in it

Re: What kind of gloves
A pair of surgical gloves work great for me in keeping my hands warmer. I aways cut off the thumb on the glove, if you don't and you get a running fish on a bait caster and you "thumb the reel" the glove along with your thumb might wind onto the reel (trust me this has been field tested):> . Wear them under a pair of wool finger less gloves and your hands stay darn warm...and dry, the most important part of keeping your hands warm.

Re: What kind of gloves
Happy camper... This is what I did today, and was very comfortable!
I stuffed two pairs in my jacket. One neo, one wool fingerless.
I wore the neos most of the day... When my hands started to get cold, I switched to the wool, all nice and dry and warm.
Another trick... While wearing neo chest waders, stuff your rag underneath your armpit while fishing. It feels REALLY good to put frozen hands into. Even if it's wet, wet warm water feels better than cold!!!
I know, strange, but it was a nice touch!

Re: What kind of gloves
Wool or neoprene?
I have worn both types over the years but prefer the wool fingerless over the neoprene. Just my personal preferance.

Re: What kind of gloves
i have to say that having handled my first fish today while wearing my gloves, i'm ready for a set of wool gloves. the thinsulate was great until i got sand all over the outside getting the native back into the river. i didn't even think about soaking them in the river to get the sand off (which didn't work at all). they soaked it up like little sponges. i ended up lugging them around for the rest of the day. off to cabelas to shop for some more christmas gifts.

Re: What kind of gloves
I bought some fingerless kenai gloves at joe's, polar fleece top's and neo palms. they work really well. just don't leave them in the pocket of your raincoat covered in fish slime for a week. can you say stinky? all in all i think it was the best $9 i spent on fishing gear last year

Re: What kind of gloves
i just got back from gi joes in tualatin. they have the neoprene fishing gloves on sale for $6.88. i now also have a pair of rag wool fingerless gloves with 25 grain thinsulate in the hands (not the fingers). hopefully i'll get to field test them tomorrow, provided the rivers cooperate.

Re: What kind of gloves
I have the Kenai gloves also and so far have found them quite suitable. I really haven't had them out in the bitter cold yet though, so they haven't totally proved themselves yet.

Re: What kind of gloves
Gloves are for sissies.................... . The best gloves I've used are "seal skins". They run about $30.00 but they are worth it, 100% waterproof!!!!!!!! Not that I would wear them.......... -------jb
