I dont know where to get one but a friend of mine wants to build one up custom. he ask me to help find a good SS Rem action for it. do you know what the bolt face is on that caliber? I didnt know if it was the same as a .223 or a 22-250.

This is the 'old' 17 Rem. right?
There is also new for '08 17 Fireball.

its the same bolt face as a 223. the 223 is the parent cartridge for the 17 remington.

yes, im looking for the 17 remington, not the 17 fireball.

The gun trader will have one. I haven't dinked around with the .17rem in almost 15 years. Back then I had to neck down .223 cases to get brass and the bullet selection was limited. I would suggest getting a chrony if you're going to be reloading because those little 20 grain bullets will come apart if you get frisky with the powder.

That is one of them rounds I would love to get out and play with. I do also like the 17 fireball but some people say it is a barrel burner rp

the 17 i have now is my favorite gun in the safe. i have loaded the factory 25 grain bullets all the way down to custom 12 grain bullets. my bdl has easily 1000 rounds through it and still shoots as good as new. key to life with one of these guns is LOTS AND LOTS AND LOTS of cleaning, and dont load too hot! ill take it over my 22-250 or 220 swift, it shoots flatter and contrary to popular belief bucks the wind pretty darn well for such a little bullet.
