About 2 months ago, my wife and I finally said, enough is enough, and went to our local travel agent and booked a trip to Disneyland. We fly out Thursday night at 8:50 pm. While we're down there, we're going to the Dodgers/Padres on Sunday.

So, you're saying, so what, lots of people go, right? The cool thing is......our kids still DO NOT KNOW ABOUT IT!!!!!!!!! The plan is we'll have their bags sitting on their beds when the get home from school on Thursday, with their big fancy Disneyland luggage tags attached. Then make up some story about them being in trouble and send them to their rooms, and see which one figures it out first!! (BTW....kids are 10yr old girl and 7yr old boy).

I can't imagine what bedlam will ensue, I think I'll have the camcorder fired up.

Wife's never been either, so she's having a tough time keeping quiet!

I think my family deserved this one, after the house horror we went through for months here......

BTW; anyone ever traveled from Disneyland to Dodger Stadium and back? I know it's almost 30 miles, it's probably going to cost about as much to get there as the game tickets were. Angels aren't in town next weekend, otherwise we would've went there.

Dodger Stadium? Sounded like a good trip until you mentioned that part. (I'm a Giants fan, required to hate the Dodgers)

That sounds like fun.

You should just put the bags in the car and dont tell them where you are going just go to the airport to pick up someone and take the bags out of the trunk.

Way to go there!!! You all are going to have a wonderful time. It may seem like a waste but I would highly recommend you all take in a movie at the theaters in downtown disney as they are very cool.

We were there this last summer for our first time, tons of fun. Oh, the kid had fun too..............

One peice of advise............................

TAKE GOOD SHOES

Oh ya, make sure you get your Fast Pass's. It's the only way to avoid the long(er) lines on the rides.

We took our kids last year on Mothers day (wifes Idea) there were no lines to speak of during the week but the weekend was packed. It was a blast for everyone. The "Fast Pass" is a must. You all will have a lot of fun!!!!!

What a great suprise for the kids.

They just did a segment on this on America's Funniest Home Videos. Definitely tape it and send it in. I was rolling around laughing at these kids freaking out.

We spent a week there last year... be sure to check out ridemax. This program allowed us to maximize our time spent in the park. It also gave us the insight into the fast pass program. There is nothing like walking past 60 minutes worth of people standing in line at Space Mountain. I'd also recommend a day at the California Adventure park...

my grandma did the same thing when I was about 11 an my brother was 9. We went to her house at night and my dad told us she was flying put to see a friend that next morning and we were all going to the airport. Got to the airport and dad pulled our bags out of the trunk. Dad said grandma needed to borrow the bags. Got inside the airport and grandma handed us our tickets. Sooooo excited! Feels like that was only yesterday :-)

Your kids will never forget that.

Wow sounds like your gonna have a blast! The kids will probably faint!

I just got back from Anheim last night, from a training seminar. I stayed right next door to Disneyland. I would like to offer this advice. EVERYTHING is much more expensive within a 1 mile radius of the park. It would save you loads of money to pack some of the kids favorite treats, in a carry-on or something. If you are going to dine out, drive at least a mile from the 'epicenter' and you will save loads. And don't forget, HAVE FUN!

Plan on heading outside "the circle" to Safeway and stocking up on sandwich/snack/drink stuff (in-room fridge), probably buy a cheap styrofoam cooler as well.
