Default How big of an anchor and lift?

I've got a new 15' Smokercraft Alaskan coming, bought it at the Sportsman show. Going to need to get it equipped. Got the iFish stickers ready (Thanks Jennie).

Was thinking an 18-20# rocking chair anchor with break away chain. Does that sound about right?

Also, is a 38# anchor lift adequate for that weight anchor.

Thanks for your input,
Dale

I have a 15 alaskan (older model) as well. I use a 16lb river anchor with the folding post, with a retrieve for a 25lb anchor. I fish the columbia by chinook landing, gov isl, and down around frenchmans bar and have had no problems. I have also used it down in the nestucca and other places too. Don't know where you fish but you won't need a super heavy anchor and in turn you will be able to use a smaller ball. This keeps from having to much clutter in your boat. Hope to see you on the river sometime.

i have a21 ft north river and use a 16 lb anchor in the lower parts of the river and use a 42 lb anchor above beacon rock. with a 15 ft boat I think 16 lb will work just fine.
