You might try ODFW. ODFW makes every effort possible to erradicate them when they pop up. There is no set season, bag limit or tag required.

Haven't heard of any pigs in the Redmond area. Not a lot anymore out at Grizzly, Ashwood or Antelope. Most of what there are are on private land and the ranchers won't let you hunt them. The government trapper flies now and then and shoots them from a plane.

The ranchers hate the pigs but are tired of hunters doing them favors. Of course if you have the money I'd bet you could find a place to hunt them. Used to be some over by Horse Heaven but haven't heard about them in a long time either. Not much public land there but a little.

We were just talking about this.

I am glad we don't have widespread pigs, as that would come at th expense of everything else,

BUT a year round huntable, edible pig would be cool....

Time and Gas wise, head to Texas. I have researched the cost associated with Hog Hunting and it is cheaper to fly to texas for a 5 day hunt than to try and get 1 hog here or in California unless you have private land that you know for a fact they are on.

The Hogs near Redmond were on private and there are still a few. We have hogs in 8 counties in Oregon, but trying to harvest one is near impossible without dogs or a land owner that lets you on.

Good luck.

If you are really interested in killing a pig, send me your phone number via PM.

This is definitely the time of year you want to be out looking for thier sign. If you know what pig sign looks like, it is easy to find right now..If you have access to ground where there are alot of cattle and you think pigs are around, look where the cows spend most of there time..Pigs like to flip those patties in search of bugs or whatever they eat..Blacktailbowhunter is right, way cheaper to go out of state and whack one..I know specifically where a couple groups of them live and have only seen them in daylight 3 times..Killed two of them so that makes a few less...Have one that i've only got pictures of and may never see him..Very smart animals...

Angry Re: pig hunting

farrel hogs are very nocternal. I have had a problem with them only coming out at night, and you just cant see em!!!
but,

2 weeks ago I was out at the ranch walking to the back of the property to take care of a tree that had fallen on the fence line, and of course there were about 20 of them drinking from the pond at about 10am.

unfortunately all I had was a Stihl 039 farm boss.
