Default Old Puget Sound Salmon Reel/Rod

Can any one help with info on this old reel as to make & date. I got it from my great grandfather who used it for Salmon in Puget sound in the 40's & 50's. It's nearly like a downrigger set-up.
I'm posting a picture of it, so if anyone can tell me what they know, I'd really appreciate it.

the top setup is called a "meat line", you put your bait on, set it in a pole holder and let your line out, when a fish gets on it you just real it in and net it, it`s probly loaded with wire line also. there are some fisherman in the sound that still fish that way.

the pole in the bottom picture looks like it may be a montague (sp)

Never knew the official name, but we had two of those in our boat house on Brown's Point (barely north of the Tacoma city limits) when I was a kid. Ours had heavy monofilament on them, and no extended crank like this one has. Seems one of the reels was coppertone color, and the other nearer the color of the one in your picture. My dad caught salmon with them, but I was never in the boat during a successful salmon trip, though we caught lots of cod, dogfish, and smaller stuff. I guess the drag system might be whatever friction your thumb can apply to the spool, but maybe there was some sort of adjustable nut on the side. Trying to grab that flying crank with a 55# King stripping line could be a knuckle buster.

The large reel is a Pflueger Pakron. It was popular in the NW 50-60 years ago. The handle has been modified with the two orignal wood knobs. The other reel is a Ocean City product. It also was from the 1940s-50s. The creel would have the most value.
