When do Bass come up?
I've got a bass and bluegill pond in my backyard, and I was wondering when the fish should start coming up to the top? Haven't seen any fish this year yet and I haven't really payed attention before. But now that I'm hooked on bass fishin I want to know when I will start seeing them... Fished the whole pond 2 days ago and there was nothing!.
Thanks for the help....

well of course i'd be glad to come up and help you fish it....show you some pointers
but you wont likely see the bass until the are in pre-spawn mode. A small pond like yours should see that shortly. If you were to fish it, i would throw small soft plastics and drag them on the bottom, or try a diving crankbait.
goodluck

Re: When do Bass come up?
Thanks for the info.
If there a certain water temp that makes them show them selves?
There are some big bass in it, and I've caught some whoppers before. Last year I got a 23in bass that was amazing!! I've mostley been a trout fisherman, so it looks like I'll be taking another trip to fishermans or sportsmans to pick up some stuff for bass. What are the names of some stuff that I should try?

Re: When do Bass come up?
JitterBugs work good, and various crankbaits but i like to use plastics along the bottom.

i agree, both easy and fun. during the summer your buzzbait will be killer in the morning and nightfall.
i would get some crankbaits now (normans or speed trap) and some plastics. Also a colorado spinnerbait.
how deep is your pond?
my magic number is 58-63 degrees. Thats when i feel the bite is good. As far as showing themselves. Do you mean them jumping or on spawning beds in the shallows?

Re: When do Bass come up?
Throw a spinnerbait now, throw a jig in May, and when the pond weeds out cast a senko to the middle and skim it back and let it settle into the holes in the weeds...easy money.
If you have a good farm pond and you arent fishing it right now you are missing the boat if you are looking for a big one.

i would throw a jig and drag it slowly on the bottom, or a 5 inch senko...then a crankbait
