Default Springer/ Sturgeon Reports. Anywhere?

I am taking a couple of newbies to the area out on President's Day. They are avid fisherman but new to the area. I was hoping to get an up to date update to help decide where/ what to go for. I will have fresh smelt and my kwick fish will be ready if necessary, along with marinaded wraps. Any help would be greatly apprecited. You can PM me if you want. I will report when I get home tomorrow. Thanks, Jesse

Two of us landed a 47", 41" and several 36" sturgeon in the Longview area Saturday. All were on fresh smelt, no scent, in 40-70' of water. I had to move around quite a bit to find them. I didn't try for springers. Be aware that the Willow Grove boat launch is due to be shut down for maintenance for the next couple of weeks though.

Are all of the springers being caught Willamette fish? Are there any upriver fish being caught? I have heard of fish caught below the WR, in the channel, and in the WR but nothing in the CR above the channel. Has anybody heard different?

The preseason prediction from WDFW/ODFW was that 85% of the upriver fish will be 4 year olds, which suggests that they will mainly be later in the season. Remember, also, that above I-5 doesn't open until March 16th.
