Re: Hammond fuel dock CLOSED
That's to bad. Is there any reason for them closing there doors.
they where controlled by the port of Warrenton, not a privite company.
At least that was the way it was 2 years ago.

Re: Hammond fuel dock CLOSED
Newport gas dock just changed hands too.
I'm sure the lack of commercial trollers, the reduced fishing regs, and the lack of recreational salmon fishermen didn't help things.
Can't wait till the Marine Reserves go in! Yippee.

Re: Hammond fuel dock CLOSED
Am I correct that there is no fuel at Warrenton either? That will make Astoria the closest?
Has there been any talk about somebody else taking it over?
Not a good thing!

Only a pump out station at Warrenton. Astoria would be the closest and no talk of it reopening anytime soon. I would be PO'd if I paid for a moorage only to find out there was no fuel.

Just cross the bay to Chinook or Ilwaco for fuel.

Be careful at Chinook. The channel is narrow and shallows fast.

Re: Hammond fuel dock CLOSED
That's going to suck for the charter in Hammond, now they hve to spend more $$ to travel to and from fuel. Is there any fuel on the Oregon side?

Re: Hammond fuel dock CLOSED
The West Mooring Basin has a fuel dock, or at least it used too.

They might bring a fuel truck down for the charters,They did that at Depoe Bay for a while. What a Bummer though for people who finaly got moorage there and the people who have been moored there.I guess the piolt boat will fuel at Astoria.

Re: Hammond fuel dock CLOSED
NO What I said was the port of Warrenton was in control of the docks
at Hammon. At the fuel dock there is Phone number there to call for gas.
That phone number was the Port of Warrenton. And they would drive over
there to gas your boat. That was 2 years ago.

Re: Hammond fuel dock CLOSED
What a bummer. I wasn't aware that there was a public fuel dock in Astoria. We have had some problems with the diesel purchased at Hammond last year. We wound up with water in the fuel tank and may have to get a complete clean out.
This situation makes moving from Warrenton to Ilwaco more appealing.
Looking forward to the Tuna season...

Re: Hammond fuel dock CLOSED
ilwaco fuel lines are too long guys....so is the time you have to wait. Better pull your boat and head to fredy's in oregon.
besides there are no fish off the columbia that would need gas.

Re: Hammond fuel dock CLOSED
Yeah, I think the Ilwaco fuel is a mix of diesel and gasahol, with a little extra WD-40 during the heat of summer. Prolly should just pull the boat and hit Costco or Freddies.

They may be a little longer this year. But as a norm, there is none.
