Default Cowlitz Smelt Report Sunday 2/15 9:00am

Still very slow.

Guys using Yakima's new mini peach corkie were doing best at a rate of a half dozen to dozen per hour.

Guess I'm going to have to get me some of that carrot milk!

Don't waste your fuel.
Wished I had something better to report!

I dont know where, and when you guys are dipping, But we have had absolutely NOOOOOOOOOOOO problem getting our limits...... I keep seeing all of these posts of people going in the daylight A couple guys i know went yesterday during the day, and got about a dozen smelt in an hour We went last night, and got 4 limits in about 45 minutes. When the fish are in super thick, going during the days is not a problem.... but right now going at night is the ONLY WAY TO GO..... LIMITS< LIMITS< just my 2 cents worth.

For those with good balance the Rocky Point area (East side) is normally the best but it is steep and could be dangerous at night. I would wear a PFD.

Yes, do tell blacktail.....I went out last night and made a few dips myself in different spots with no results. In almost 2 hours at the river i only saw a total of 4 smelt dipped for over a hundred dippers. What gives?

Been dipping at the park. At about 8:00 at night. Last night the smelt were in very close to the bank. Makes it a little nicer when your only having to dip a few feet off the bank. They are there..

We are not doing anything special. Except maybe dipping in real close to shore. They are not in thick, but limits are there. Maybe we have just been getting lucky, I dont know. all I can say is maybe try in closer.

From what I have personally seen and heard it sounds like you have been lucky and in the right place at the right time.

Of course I heard rumors that you have been chumming with Uncle Mikes Smelt Nibbles.

Would that be Gearhart Gardens or Riverside Park?
