A new fishing partner!!!!
Well on Monday I was able to meet for the first time my new fishing partner for life.
John Thomas Armstrong
Weighing in at 10lbs even and 22" long with a head circumferance of 15" he was quite a chore for my wife. But she handled it like a champ.
Fortunately he's gotten some of his mothers good looks. I was wondering if he'd be doomed to look like me
Well I hope all of you have a good weekend. My years been made already even if I have a Royish Steelhead and springer season. I've got some diapers to change.

Re: A new fishing partner!!!!
Ramstrong, you have certainly been blessed with a beautiful son. Congratulations to you and your wife and glad to hear all is well
Looks like he is already practicing his rod grip and scoping out the water to see where he wants to cast!

Re: A new fishing partner!!!!
Ramstrong-
You have a good looking boy! When my oldest one was born I was so itching to go fishing I finnally loaded her up in the backpack and off we went after late steadhead. Her first fishing trip was at 3 months old. She had a ball. Take them out and have fun they grow up fast.
I am sure you will have a smile a mile wide for days!

Re: A new fishing partner!!!!
Congrats Ram...to you and your wife!
That brings back memories! I have 4 great kids...I miss those fishin buddy days. When we would get up "early" go get a donut and milk and off to the local lake to see if any fish had waken up yet. Each kid had their own Fishin buddy shirt. They all still love to fish, oldest daughter and I earned enough last year to buy her a car while ********* fishin...and oldest son this past year spent his summer bait boyin for dad. He would have rather been fishin....but loved those tips!
You have a lifetime of great memories! Makes me look forward to grandkids!
Congrats Again!
Jim

Congrats on the new keeper. I asked in Chat Wednesday if anybody had heard if you were a father yet, no answer.
Your fishing days are not as numbered as you might think.

Re: A new fishing partner!!!!
Great news and Congratulations! I was wondering when we would hear the news. I am so happy for you and your wife to be blessed with such a great looking boy. Pretty good size to him as well. Sounds like you have already got fishing plans with him, just remember not to say anything but good when he outfishs you. First time my son did made proud of what he has learned. You'll love changing diapers knowing he will be fishing with you soon. Take care and have fun.

Re: A new fishing partner!!!!
Whoa, extremely poor timing dude. How are you gonna get time to fish?
Congratulations to you and your wife. We just had our first in September. Everyone says it, but it's true...radical change in your life and priorities. Hope you both manage to get some sleep. Don't let the first few days of non-stop sleeping fool you, it's coming......sleep while you can!!
Again, major congrats!!!!

Re: A new fishing partner!!!!
Hey Ryan, mega congrats!!!!  Does the little dude have gills? If he does you can throw away that aqua vision set up and have dude check the water for ya.
Wow, We had our third and final 2years ago. He has been out in the shop in and out of boats. Playing with the little zebco starter rods, watching me tie leaders up, playing with the corkie bags, messing with the anchor rope and on and on. What a great looking kid.
Be thankful Ryan for the blessings of a lifetime...awesome
I just told my wife I had very bad alergic reactions to poopy diapers. I can't stand the smell. :depressed: Retrain the wife Ryan. Tell her you will feed the dude but she gets to change the poopies. Just kidding. I get to do my unfair share.

Nice Keeper. The ONLY regrets I have in my life is not having kids sooner.
What a blessing they are.

Re: A new fishing partner!!!!
Congratulations. The best times are ahead of you. Cleaning diapers, drool and other things that you could never imagine. Seriously, once they get to an age that they can fish, you will really feel great. I have two sons and a daughter, all grown. They have all fished and enjoyed it. Some of the best times were when they were on the bank with me. The boys still fish and now even my granddaughters go with us. My oldest (40 yrs) is out every chance he gets. It makes me proud of all of them.
Be gentle with the little one. Teach him with love and do it slow. Praise his efforts. Don't yell at his mistakes or even tease him when he catches a branch. Help him to learn that there is life all around him. Show him the life forms and tell him why they are there. He will be your companion for life. Good luck.

That is what happens when you don't fish enough. Now you got the makings of a fishing team. Teach him how to handle a boat as fast as you can. That way you will be able to concentrate on fishing not driving. Congratulations!

Re: A new fishing partner!!!!
Thank you all for the kind words. It really is quite incredible. every day he's a little more grown up than the day before. It's amazing how quick the milestones come the first days of life.
The good thing about coaching my wife through labor and helping with the back rubs and juice refills is that there were some lofty promises made about me being able to fish whenever I want.
Though I know she wasn't in her right mind at the time she is going to accomidate my fishing (within reason). I still figure I'm not going to have much of a winter steelhead season, but springers watch out!!
Thanks again for all of the well wishes. Now it's time to finish dinner.
By the way Roy, this baby is so content. No cries unless something is wrong and he can fall asleep about anywhere. No swing is necessary at this time.

Re: A new fishing partner!!!!
Ryan,
My daughter is now 2 ... and she was just born a few weeks ago, it seems. What an unbelievable experience! People tell you to forget about sleeping all night, about how your life will change ... but what has amazed me is the joy in my heart for the opportunity to change a diaper in the middle of the night, to comfort a cry or do just about anything! It's not like there's a choice - there isn't. It's not like it's difficult - it isn't. It's not like you would rather be doing anything else, whatever that may be - it's not! Folks'll tell you, if you ask, that I've gotten more fishing in since my daughter was born ... but she is a blessing and I joy beyond anything I ever imagined she would be. Congrats to you and your wife. I hope your kid makes you as happy as mine has make me!
