Sirens on the Trask??

Happened up the Trask a while back,1st time in quite a few years.
So, what are the sirens for??
sign says they get tested every month but doesn't say why they are there.

The sirens on the Trask are a warning system set up for the possibility of dams breaking.
The dam is way up at the top of the Trask, forget the name of it, but it could flood all the local river dwellers.

The sirens are in case Barney Reservoir breaks and sends water down the valley. Those are to warn those living in the valley. I believe that the Feds made them put those up but I don't think they can out run the water if it breaks. Sounds pretty scary huh ? I think I would just scramble for side hill.

Forgot about Barney since it is way up there.
When I worked at the mill below Hagg LK I always wondered if I would have to run up and stick my finger in a hole.

Talked to a local last year, the resivoir is a Source of water for Hillsboro.When the need to raise the existing dam a few feet higher to increase water supply, they had to put in an early warning siren system that also includes a direct link to homes (some sort phone system that doesn't work).
I also wondered how you were going to out run a breach.Hopefully they call before the little Dutch boy yells "I can't hold it back!"
