Default Boat Blind Material ??? (Help)

I am in the middle of building a blind for the new boat. Have the frame work down and will complete it this weekend or so. But need some help on the material to cover it so I can camo it up with Avery Killer weed or something similar. I put a Cabela's Northern Flight blind on my old boat and it came with a netting type material that worked great (The only thing that really did) and would like to find something like that. Can't get the fabric at Cabela's (go figure) and MPW and Cabela's both only have a camo netting product that really won't work for attaching brush to. So what have some of you been doing on your boat blinds. Any help would greatly be appreciated.

On my last blind I used some surplus Artillary netting with a desert camo poly tarp underneath for rain & wind protection. You can go in my gallery for pics.

But thinking I might use oiled canvas on the next. I've got snaps down most of the boat anyway, so it only seems natural to use them to attach the canvas.

Hey, lets see some pics of the frame. We love looking at boat blinds!

I did a google search for cordura cloth a while back and came up with quite a few hits. Also the Mill End store in Milwaukie has cordura but they want $15 a yard.

007SPRIG,
Just curious, but do you recall what denier that $15/yd price was for?
This might be a better choice than heavy canvas....and it should be tougher and more rip-proof.

I used a 600 dennier cordura on my blind and attached old trawler netting to the outside to put brush in. I ended up doing an internet search for the courra, found a place in Denver that sold bulk cloth direct. MUCH CHEAPER than anything local. I have been very happy with the cordura as it is extremely tough and windproof. Don't go too heavy, the 1000 denier cloth was too stiff. You can ge told trawler nets at most ports, ask the harnormaster and they usually have old trashed nets you can take. Otherwise like Mike said, use military surplus net.

Thanks for the help guys. I will try and get some pictures of the frame after I put a few of the peices together. Currently working on cutting up peices and need some weekend help from a friend that welds alum. Also need how to figure out how to get picutres on. Duck in the blood will be home this weekend from school so maybe he can teach this old dog a new trick.

I just rebuilt my blind for the boat just before this last season. Its made out of sch80 pvc for the frame and chicken wire attached to it. I just weave in natural vegatation to cover the chicken wire. Same brush, grass, tree branches, corn stalks, what ever surrounds me where I hunt. Nothing blends in better then the real stuff.

Here's a website that has the cordura. Thought about doing this for mine, but not for now.

Great link. I also found this one http://www.sterlingnets.com/bulk_netting.html#bn1 for the type of netting material I was looking for to be able to camo things up and be able to attach with zip ties. This will go on top of the other material. We brushed our last boat blind hunted it all year and just used small amounts of vegatin around us to blen it in so our set was quick. Thanks again for the help guys. I will get pictures of the work in progress up soon. This is an awesome fourm.

I sure don't. I'd guess 600. Give them a call. It was 60" wide.
