Default Flotilla 3

Flotilla III, December 15th on the Lewis River is a week from Saturday. I need to have a head count on how many people are going to show up, so I can let the restaurant know. If you are sure you are going be there, please post here to let me know, by Tuesday December 11th.

Thanks, Troy

Spooled, I'll be there. Where are you going to drift from/to? Sled or DB? Give me the details.

Hi Dr. strangelove.

The Flotilla is on Saturday, December 15th, on the Lewis River, which is about 30 minutes north of Vancouver, Washington.

I would expect most people will try to put in around daylight. The area we plan on fishing is from the dam down to I-5. You can find directions to various boat ramps at this link. http://www.piscatorialpursuits.com/u...c&f=1&t=006550

The restaurant is The Oak Tree Restaurant, located right on I-5 at the Woodland exit. You can see the big sign from I-5. Thanks to Pete G. in Littleton Colorado for suggesting this restaurant in a previous thread. The food is between $8-$10. We will meet there at 3:30 PM. If you are wondering why we are not meeting at the golf course to eat, it is that they wanted $250.00 just to have it there.

Hi Rags, I accepted a ride in a sled this time. I think we will probably put in either at the golf course or the Happa ramp.

This river is a good driftboat as well as sled river. If I was taking my driftboat, I would put in at the hatchery (4WD only) or the Meat Hole (2WD or 4WD), and take out at the Island Ramp.

I will try to work out some shuttle help for driftboaters. If you are bringing a driftboat and need a shuttle let me know.

Thanks,
Troy

I would like to give you a definate answer, but I cannot :depressed:

I am trying to make it, and am at least 60% sure I will make it in one way or another. To many variables yet, to say yes for sure.

Put me down for a maybe.

Hey Rags, I've never run up the Lewis before and was wondering if I could hitch a backseat ride to learn the river before putting my own boat into unkown waters. I hate dents. I wouldn't be a bother, will bring Mike's Lemonade or beer and have all my own gear. Troy said you were pretty cool. Thanks, Doc.

Hey Rags,
Maybe I could get up there for that trip on the 15th. Do you think I could hitch a ride with you or Captain Snapshot?? The last time I went with Snapshot was on the Lewis and we did great. I don't think it had anything to do with the Old Snapshot's excellant guides service though. I would like to see his new sled. I will let you know when I get back from S.F. Tuesday.

No pilgrim, ask Dave Johnson if the guide makes the difference. Guess if I didn't make the difference, anyone could have put you into those fish. Right. We both know it was my knowledge and skills that found that isolated pool full of fish. We, Rags and I will be there. John, lets talk about a time and call the Doctor. We'll use my boat. I need to get it wet and bloody. By the way Dr. Strangelove, I get to catch the first fish in it. No matter who hooks it,
Come on over No Pilgrim, I'll put into them again.

Hey guys: If things havn't changed much at the Golf Course Ramp, I would SERIOUSLY put the sleds in at the Island Ramp. The Golf Course Ramp, back then was only good for drift boats. Lots of mud.
The Island ramp is on the north side of the river before the turn off to the Golf Course. Wish I was there :depressed:

Pete ... We put in at the golf course winter and summer, from 900 CFS (carcass count days in the fall) on up. No mud. A great put-in. And close to a great lunch spot at the golf course.

Regarding putting in at the golf course for f3, we just got back from the Lewis and the golf course ramp has been redesigned. They punched a new road from the top and closed off the old way in.

This is going to cause problems putting more than a few boats in as someone will park blocking your ability to turn your trailer around to back in to the water.

The new road for those familiar with the area is punched to the top where we use to line up the vehicles to back into the river.

If the water continues to be high then Island ramp is the place to put in as parking is adequate for a large number of vehicles.

For the fishing report, we hooked one but lost it before we got it to the boat. Plenty of old silvers rolling. Only saw a handful of boats today.

I will not be fishing on Saturday but will be glad to run free shuttles either in the morning or in the afternoon. E-mail me at jamattice@aol.com with your phone number and we'll make arrangements.

By the way, I just spoke with Bruce Gipple, perhaps the best winter steelhead guide on the NF Lewis, and he is available on Saturday if three or four guys want to employ him. He can be reached at 360-887-3676. Expect to catch mucho fish with this guy.

Got Driftboat! Never used the thing yet only a week in my possession. 16' Clackacraft Magnum (used). Is this part of the river a good spot to learn on the oars?

Joe:

You could float from the dam to Island Ramp on an inner tube and not even get your knees wet. This is a gentle river. There is basically no whitewater at all, especially at current levels.

Sorry to miss your restaurant reservation deadline but if its not too late would you add two? Bait boy and myself would like to attend. If not no problem. We'll be fishing from my boat, a red North River. Hope to meet you there. Jay
